At one of our favorite neighborhood venues, The Royal Room, we came up with a simple delicious idea:
What if all of our friends posted a video or photo wearing the t-shirt of their favorite active local band or artist? What if they told a quick story about how they discovered the group and why they love them?
What if the challenge was to do this for an entire week?
What if we encouraged everyone to buy new merchandise from these bands as a part of the challenge, and to tell their friends where they can see these bands next?
What if each year the number of participants simply doubled. 10 friends by year ten is 5,120 friends participating in Local Music Week.
Multiply that by 7 music acts per friends, and our fun little local music experiment is responsible for encouraging and manifesting the manufacturing and sales of 35,840 shirts and hoodies!
This would be spectacular, and this is this only one aspect of our little dream for Local Music Week. We imagine a platform for promoting the fact that for the price of one ticket to see a Rock & Roll band that is 30 years past their prime, you can change the fortune of dozens of local bands.
All you have to do is turn up at a few awesome shows, pay the cover and purchase 7 new t-shirts a year. You need to buy shirts anyway because it gets cold, and clothing is required. Why not change the world, one T Shirt at a time?
